Mapview allows you to store new data in two ways: locally and externally. Below we will discuss the differences between the storage groups.
Local data storage
When you add new data via spreadsheet import or add a new contact, the data is automatically stored locally in our database and will not sync to other contact sources, unless told otherwise. Your data will be backed up if you are on the Pro or Basic plan.
External data storage
External data syncs to Mapview from sources, such as iCloud, Gmail or Outlook. External data storage is a great way to keep a backup your data and notes made in Mapview. You can also organize your data into groups on your desktop and share data with your team or across multiple devices.
You can add new data to these sources via Mapview during spreadsheet import or when creating new contacts. Saving new contacts to an external source is not automatic and needs to be turned on in the Mapview Settings.
